If you have an obsession with constantly weighing yourself every day, then it’s time to take control and stop this daily ritual by avoiding the bathroom scales.
Weighing yourself on a daily basis can actually do more harm than good.
One day you may jump on the scales and you’ve lost a couple of pounds and the next day you may have gained 2 pounds, which can make you feel low and bring on negative self-talk. That’s the last thing you need!
Bathroom scales are not the most reliable way to determine your weight loss; more often than not they are very unreliable. But yet these things can control just what kind of day you are going to have.
It’s ok to weigh yourself once a week but not every day, there are other ways for you to measure just how much body fat you have lost and yes body fat not ‘weight loss’ is far more important.
When you get on the scales and the number goes up this could be due to water retention, it may be the wrong time of the month for you or you may have eaten something the night before that caused slight bloating. It doesn’t mean that you have somehow put on weight overnight.
Muscles weigh more than fat, so when you are losing weight by following a healthy nutrition plan and working out on a regular basis you are going to gain lean muscle, which may also count for the scales going up slightly.
The best way for you to measure if you are losing body fat is by how your clothes are feeling, are they loser than when you tried them on last week? How much more energy do you have? Are you finding it easier it is to climb a flight of stairs, these ways may not be as scientific, but they will make you feel happier and more successful than bathroom scales ever could.
If YES is your answer to all of those questions then is a great sign that you are losing body fat and you should be proud of yourself!
I’m not telling you to disregard the scales completely as they can be a helpful tool but just put them out of sight, and bring them out once every so often. You really don’t want to obsess over them and allow them to determine your day and sabotage your self-esteem.
Following a healthy lifestyle will definitely put you in the running for that hot body you want, so stop obsessing over those bathroom scales and put yourself back in control of your body.
