Party season is just around the corner and we’ll all be getting our party dress on ready for getting on down on the dance floor. If the thought of squeezing into your party dress is giving you nightmares then you need to try these 3 tips to help get you slim for party season.

1. Keep a Journal

This helps you to rid yourself of bad habits that are holding you back from seeing some great results. You cannot change what you do not acknowledge so grab a pen and take an honest look at a typical day. Keep a list of everything you eat and drink; this way you will identify some surprising facts about what you put into your body.

Keeping track helps you to stop hiding away from the little bits you eat and drink throughout the day that over time add up to lots of additional calories and eventually show up on your hips.

Once you see where your diet is falling down you can start to swap things around and see some major changes. If you notice you’ve eaten a packet of crisps for example, next time, to stop you from reaching for the fattening snacks you can swap those for an apple and almonds which fit perfectly in your bag.

You truly do KNOW how to eat right – so you just need to do it.

2. Crank it Up

Skip the hour long dance classes that use mini “barbie weights”. Instead choose to use a weight that will actually give your body a challenge and your metabolism a long lasting boost.

Strength Training is THE only form of exercise that can improve the condition of your muscles. The more lean muscle you have, the higher your metabolism and the more toned and defined your body will look!

BUT… In order to achieve this result you MUST use weights that are challenging.

How will you know? Well if you can do more than 15-20 repetitions of an exercise, that’s a good sign the weight is TOO light. So it’s time to trade it in for a weight that feels challenging enough to complete 10-12 repetitions.

Lifting heavy weights wont bulk you up, all they will do is blast away excess body fat and give you a sleek physique that will slide into your party dress ready for some shakin’.

3. Better Workout, Less Time

More is NOT better when it comes to cardio.

You don’t have the time to spend hours every day doing cardio workouts, because the longer you spend on it – the more it will take away from your results.

Instead, increase the challenge and shorten your cardio workout which will not only save you time, but you will actually see better results. Short, intense blasts of cardio make the body work harder which makes the fat burning continue longer, even when you’ve stopped the workout!
