Take a Hike

Exercise, in all forms is possibly the best way to beat stress. Taking a nice steady walk or a purposeful hike can help you dramatically improve your state of mind and balance your hormones. Whenever you find your stress levels rising, take yourself away from the stressors and start walking. You’ll soon find you’ve calmed down, probably seen things in a different light and burnt some calories!

Have a Read

Grab yourself a magazine or a good old fashioned book and sit back from 20 minutes and let your mind go somewhere else. Your imagination is a wonderful tool which can help you visualise what you’re reading and help calm your emotions by taking you away from the cause of your stress without even having to leave the room.

Meditate and Chill

Take time to chill out for a while. This is one thing we seem to really neglect these days but it is even more important in the 21st century! Go to a quiet place, close your eyes and just focus on your breathing. When distracting thoughts come into your mind, keep focused on your breath relaxing your mind and body. Regular meditation can have a dramatically positive effect on your overall health.

Play Some Music

It is said that music is food for the soul and I think they may be on to something here. Whenever you feel a bit anxious, agitated or aggravated take a look through you CD or iTunes collection and put on some relaxing tunes. Whatever takes your heart rate down is the key; then sit back, close your eyes and relax into the music. This can also work well with feel good music; if it makes you smile then give it a play!

If stress is a factor in your life right now, there are so many things you can do to beat it so take some time to invest in lowering your stress levels and boosting your health levels!
